In Cerea, in the province of Verona, there is a bar where every customer is called by name, where you breathe a homey atmosphere, and where coffee... is never just coffee. It's called Zewdì Cafè And telling us about it is Morena, the owner. A sincere chat, filled with anecdotes, special drinks, and that unique bond that forms behind a counter.
How did you come up with the idea of opening your bar?
It happened during a vacation with a friend – who later became my partner in the first five years. An idea that came up while talking, which then became a reality.
What were you doing before? And when did you realize you wanted to do this job?
I was a sales assistant in a shopping center. Then I started, a bit for fun, to help out in my brother-in-law's bar in the evening. I immediately became passionate, I had a lot of fun!
Was there someone who inspired you in particular?
Yes, my brother-in-law. Seeing him work made me want to try seriously.
The difficulties at the beginning?
So many! The daytime bar is a different world from the evening one. The hardest part? Learning to be quick with cappuccinos, macchiatos, big macchiatos... but then you get into the rhythm.

What do you love most about your job?
Contact with people. I have clients who come every day for 22 years: we know each other, we greet each other, we joke. It's a relationship that goes beyond simple service.
And those little moments that fill your day?
When a customer appreciates what you've chosen for them. When they say: “Here I find products that I can't find elsewhere.” It makes you feel like you're doing well.
The hardest part?
Without a doubt, the early mornings. When it's time to open, you have to be operational by 5:15!
Do you have special customers?
Many. Those who are always there, whom you might have known for a lifetime. It's nice to see them come in, already knowing what they want, exchanging a few words.
An anecdote with a customer?
It's hard to choose just one! Every day something happens that brings a smile to your face. It's the magic of the bar: every customer is a story.
How do you see the future of your place?
It's always an unknown. People's habits change quickly. But we try to remain a constant, where people feel good.
How did the collaboration with Pausa come about?
We were looking for a ginseng with and without sugar. We discovered your products, tried them... and they were liked by us and the customers!
What Pausa products do you use?
A nice mix: barley, hazelnut, mocaccino, various types of ginseng (even flavored). They offer variety, and the quality is noticeable.
How do they integrate with your place?
Perfectly. In a daily bar like ours, the coffee break is sacred. Offering good and different alternatives is an added value.

Future projects?
Keep growing. Maybe offer new things, but without losing the atmosphere that characterizes us.
Any advice for someone wanting to open a bar?
Be patient, a lot. And have a desire to be with people. It's not always easy, but it can be very rewarding.
